Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2026-01-01 · Last Updated: 2026-01-01

Perspective values transparency. This policy explains exactly what data is collected, what is not collected, how third-party providers operate, and how your information is handled when using the service.

1. Who We Are

Perspective is an AI-powered platform designed to reduce bias, challenge echo chambers, and help users think through questions from multiple viewpoints. If you use Perspective, certain technical data may be processed to make the product function securely.

2. What We Collect Directly

At present, Perspective does not intentionally maintain an internal database storing user profiles, prompts, or conversation history. This means we are not presently storing your chats in our own long-term application database.

Future versions may add secure database infrastructure for features like saved chats, accounts, settings, or memory. If that occurs, this Privacy Policy would be updated before or when such features launch and you will be informed accordingly.

3. Authentication Through Clerk

Perspective uses Clerk for sign up, sign in, session management, and account authentication.

Depending on how you sign in, Clerk may collect and process the following:

  • Name or display name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo / avatar supplied by your provider
  • User ID generated by Clerk
  • Session tokens and authentication cookies
  • Login timestamps
  • Device, browser, and operating system metadata
  • IP address and approximate geolocation inferred from IP
  • Security events such as suspicious login attempts

If you use Google OAuth specifically, Clerk may receive data that Google shares after your consent, typically including your name, verified email address, Google profile image, and Google account identifier necessary for authentication. Perspective itself only uses this information for account access and displaying your account identity within the app.

Perspective does not receive your Google password. Password credentials remain with Google when OAuth is used.

Clerk may store authentication data on its own systems subject to Clerk policies. Clerk Privacy Policy: https://clerk.com/legal/privacy

4. Prompts and AI Requests (Gemini)

When you type a question or prompt into Perspective, the text you submit is sent to Gemini in order to generate a response. This generally includes only:

  • Your current prompt
  • Any conversation context needed to answer coherently in that session
  • System instructions required for functionality

From our side, prompts are sent for processing and response generation. We do not intentionally maintain our own permanent prompt archive at this time.

Google may process requests according to its own service terms, privacy terms, retention policies, abuse prevention systems, or operational logging. Because third-party practices can change, users should review Google policies directly: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Users should avoid submitting passwords, banking details, government IDs, highly confidential secrets, or sensitive personal information into prompts.

5. What We Do NOT Collect Right Now

  • No analytics
  • No advertising trackers intentionally added by us
  • No sale of personal data
  • No internal chat storage at present
  • No intentional sharing of prompts with unrelated third parties

6. Technical Logs

Hosting providers, Clerk, Google APIs, network providers, or security systems may generate temporary logs such as IP addresses, timestamps, request status codes, and error traces. These logs are commonly used for reliability, abuse prevention, and debugging.

7. Cookies and Sessions

Because Clerk is used for authentication, cookies, tokens, or local storage may be used to keep you signed in, verify sessions, and secure your account.

8. Data Sharing

Perspective does not sell or share your personal data for marketing purposes. Data is only transmitted where necessary to operate the service, such as:

  • Clerk for authentication
  • Gemini / Google for AI responses
  • Hosting or infrastructure providers required to run the application
  • Legal compliance if compelled by valid law

9. Your Choices

You may choose not to sign in, not to use Google OAuth, or not to submit prompts containing personal information. You may also request account deletion through supported account tools or by contacting us when available.

10. Security

We aim to use reputable providers, HTTPS encryption, authenticated sessions, and reasonable technical safeguards. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

11. Future Changes

If Perspective later adds storage, analytics, saved chat history, payments, collaboration tools, or new providers, this policy will be updated to reflect those changes clearly.
